Kool Aid gets added to the pickle brine in separate jars with four to five different flavors. The pickles came in along with some sugar while soaking up all the flavor and color from the Kool Aid while they sit in the fridge for a few days. They originated in Mississippi and are now known as a southern thing.

My first experience I was recommended by my Lyft passengers to visit Sno Biz in Byram, MS which offers soft shaved ice, smoothies, treats and of course Kool-Aid Pickles or Koolickles! My thoughts were reminiscent of the Piccadilly (Navajo treat in AZ) but instead of diced pickles in a Kool-Aid flavored shaved ice you are given dill pickles that are covered in the Kool-Aid.
They have a sweet but cherry taste, think bread and butter pickles but with a grape, cherry or strawberry flavor. I would definitely try these again as i want to find some homemade and compare them. A summer treat and staple down in the Delta with the tropical fruit punch flavor that is traditional in the South.
